I have apple care for 3 years, and my Mac Pro is under 1 year. Which gave me about 5 hrs before crash (Grey screen), This allowed me to turn the fans up and cool the mac. I found a great discussion on this forum and it said to download the SMC fan control. I took it 7 months ago to a "Genius" and he said that I can't use my audio cards, and PCIe cards on Apples hardware compatibility list and not to run my Audio software. I called apple care and they said to run the Apple care Hardware test on the Apple Care disk.It freezes and then the Mac Pro smells like burnt tennis shoes. Now after Apple Pushed out the NEW Jan 2010 EFI Intel firmware update, I can't get my mac to run more then 5 min with out a panic. It shows that when i uses any audio or VST music plugins that the temps go in the 200F and even higher.Īpple told me this is normal. I downloaded a tool to look at the CPU core temps and memory. It happens at random even while nothing or no apps are running. i ran the mem hardware test with no errors.

I have apple care, and they told me to remove all external devices. Hello, Ever since i Purchased my new Mac Pro Nehalem 8 core from apple, it had grey screend at random all the time.
